No..it is not impossible for you to go into DIP and RRB. Both Investment and Customer Projects have their own advantages and consultant can learn from both of them. You really need to go through some PLM documents as suggested by Saurabh and get your basics clear and concise.
Also, simultaneously search the SCN forum to get some documents/info. on the same. I am sure you will get the path. Also, request you to sit with SD,PP and HR consultant to learn the basics of DIP profile, work center configuration, setting up formulas at work center etc.
